Occasionally we will do a craft that the kids enjoy so much that I have to share it with everyone. This was one of those that even us grown ups were digging into.

Because it's near Halloween we decided to call this activity "Monster Boogers"/"Monster Snot".

Materials needed:
Elmer's white glue or Elmer's school glue gel (8 oz)
Borax (find in the laundry detergent aisle of the store)
Water
Two bowls
Food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
In one bowl mix 8 oz of glue and 1 cup of water. Add food coloring if you want colored slime. (We used 4-5 drops of red and it turned pink.)
In other bowl, mix 1 teaspoon borax with 1 cup water until the borax is dissolved.
Add the glue mixture to the borax solution, stirring slowly.
The slime will begin to form immediately; stir as much as you can, then dig in and knead it with your hands until it gets less sticky. (No one makes slime without getting a little messy!) Don't worry about any leftover water in the bowl; just pour it out.
Play with the mixture! Do not let the children eat any of it.
We made a long tongue, a bracelet, snot, a snake, a pancake, a pig, and the kids even made "pig noses" that they pretended to wear.

Even after the kids were all done, the grown ups were still rolling and playing with it while we chatted. I mean, how often do you touch something slimy and know it's not something bad!
