2-3 Year Old: Music Egg Shakers

We have added a new activity to our musical instruments: egg shakers!

We made our own by taking old plastic Easter eggs, adding a teaspoon of rice, closing them, and sealing them with tape (not scotch tape!). Mine aren't the prettiest but if you get the fancy duct tape I'm sure yours can look stunning. Either way, they'll get the job done.

(Side note: Don't try and hot glue the eggs closed. It won't work. Just trust me and save yourself the frustration).

So what do you do with egg shakers? EVERYTHING. But seriously. We have found tons of songs to sing and activities to do with them.

My personal favorite resource is youtube channel Jbrary. Check out their egg shaker videos for fun games and songs.

The kids (and parents) loved "The Walrus Washes His Winter Coat". Check out their video and try it for yourself.

Fun right? We are going to add some more songs to our repertoire soon enough but in the meantime I can vouch for this one.

Hope you are having a great day!
