Day 3: 2-3 Year Olds

We've been doing some fine tuning over here.

Last night I removed the five common words and instead of replacing them with a new five, I replaced them with two.

Today I worked on replacing the section entirely. Many people have tried doing a weather themed section but I voted against it because our weather never changes here. Seriously, I don't know what a season is anymore. However, it might be easier for him to learn so here we go.

I found this handy (and free!) printout Weather Bear at a A Mom's View From the Pew.

The Bear is still sitting in our laminated-but-needs-to-be-cut-out section. Another project to do tonight.

For today's Circle Time we learned about triangles, reviewed all of our colors, today's date, the day of the week (which Bug got right on the first try!), month of the year, number 3, letter c, and two new words "What" and "Look". Two sight words seem to be going a lot smoother than five.

We skipped our Craft Time today. Earlier this morning we went to our local Children's Museum and while there Bug got to practice with scissors. He seems to be bored with basic coloring so it might be time to up the ante and start doing some new crafts. Does this mean our schedule will change again? Probably. That's why I love it so much. If something doesn't work, don't do it. Change it. Find something new that will!

Story Time was a hit, as usual. Bug loves reading. He would literally have me read to him all day if I let him. Don't worry if your kid isn't a reader yet. Bibs will not let me read to her for a second. She kicks, cries, and wrestles out of my arms. It's amazing how different each child is. Somethings I found that work for me is to have her turn the page and to read very, very fast so she can finish the book quickly.

For Music Time we sang a few songs and then listened to some trumpet music. I updated our schedule for music time so every day we listen to a new instrument while the kids play.

For Free Play we went to our Children's Museum and played with some friends there.

As always, if you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me via our contact page.
