Day 2: 2-3 Years Old

Today Bug was begging for school to start. He even tried to pull out the school board from it's hiding place.

Today's Circle Time we reviewed all our colors, diamonds, the letter B, the number 2, and we learned about five sight words. The sight words will probably be reduced to two next week since five seems to be a bit too much to keep track of.

For Craft Time we practiced our gluing skills. To do this I cut out pictures from magazines and coupon clippings of things he might be interested in: big numbers, dogs, shapes, an eye, etc.

He seemed more interested in turning the glue stick then actually gluing things. Craft Time was cut pretty short because he wasn't very interested. But it did give us an opportunity to review the meaning of "sticky". I did the pink one next to him to show him how to do it without interfering with his side.

Story Time was a success, as I suspected. We read "The Duckling Gets a Cookie?" and Dr. Seuss's "I Can Read with My Eyes Shut". We were then planning on a library trip but only after I got the kids ready to go did I realize our car was still at the mechanics.

Because of this we returned to our school room and did Music Time. We sang "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", "Alphabet Song", "Wheels on the Bus", and a few church songs too. Last week we learned about French Horns by listening to the music while I blogged. This was such a hit with the kids I decided to teach them about violins by listening to violin music. I tried to do songs they were familiar with, such as Star Wars, to start. That way they would recognize and enjoy the tune and I could introduce the instrument. It was a hit. This is something I will most likely incorporate into our daily schedule.
