Day 4: 2-3 Yr Old

Today's Circle Time included our updated board with a new weather section. Today we learned about cloudy weather. Bug had me dress our Bear in a shirt, pants, and shoes.

We used markers for today's coloring time. That seems to be more successful than our crayons. I wonder if the crayons we have just don't color as brightly as he would like.

After coloring we read lots and lots of books! We read some books at home and then we took a trip to the library this morning. Bug found three Star Wars books and we spent a solid half hour reading one book after another. We even bumped into a couple other kids who liked his books. This gave us some extra practice on reading in groups vs. reading to Bug and Bibs at home. It's a practiced skill my friends. At least for us.

For today's music time we learned about the harmonica. We picked up a harmonica from the Dollar Tree a few weeks ago and I took it out for a hands on experience today. I played and little and Bug tried to as well. Unfortunately, our harmonica was hard for even me to play! Luckily, he was convinced he could hear himself play so it was a success. To reinforce what a harmonica is and sounds like we listened to harmonica music on youtube. There are actually orchestras that use them and they play in some beautiful pieces. We also listened to a rendition of "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars done on a harmonica. Pretty fun stuff.

After music we had free play and I broke out some educational toys I had made. Our "Sorter" game is one of Bug's favorites. It helps him practice gripping, sorting, and eye-hand coordination. Oh and it's a lot of fun too.
